We have exciting news for ILR members!
Perry So, Music Director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Navarre Symphony Orchestra, plans to lead a fascinating session for ILR on Friday, November 20th. This one session course will be held at ACES in Hamden from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, and will be limited to 50 lucky ILR folks for no charge. Yes, Virginia, there definitely are perks to becoming an ILR member!
Registration will be on a first come, first served basis, beginning Monday, October 19th at 9:00 AM. You can view information about the course and online registration by clicking here. Make sure to sign into your ILR account before you register, as this event is limited to ILR members only.
The title of this ILR special event is “Dance Music – Past and Present” and it will be a (very) selective survey of music created for physical movement from antiquity to the near-present. Dance and music have always been intertwined, and the lecture will present highlights of the enduring connection between sound and movement.
We anticipate a full house with a possible wait list for this special ILR event. With that in mind, if you sign up but find out later that you cannot attend, please contact our Registrar, Cheryl Cape, at registrar@ilrnewhaven.org to release your seat. Thank you in advance for that small kindness.
In addition to the Friday ILR course, we wanted to share information about a separate, related event happening on Sunday, November 22nd. Perry So will be leading an orchestra concert with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Tia Russell Dance Studio in the afternoon of Sunday, November 22nd at the Lyman Center in SCSU. The orchestra concert is entitled “Dance Dance Evolution” and promises that the audience will “experience a spectrum and evolution of music and dance across time, from Nutcracker to Hip Hop!” There are still tickets available if you are interested in attending the orchestra concert.
Make sure to enter registration day, Monday morning, October 19, in your calendar so you don’t miss out on this terrific opportunity! If you have any questions about this special event, please email info@ilrnewhaven.org.
Keep learning!
