Dear Fellow ILR Members,
I am very pleased to share an invitation from Rabbi Alvin Wainhaus to join him and interested people of all persuasions for the annual “Kristallnacht Commemoration” event which honors a righteous Christian who was moved to save Jews during the Holocaust. This year’s program will recognize the “Remarkable Deeds of Aristides de Sousa Mendes”, a diplomat in the Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux, France, during the Holocaust. His actions saved countless people from death.
This is an exceptional opportunity to learn about the selfless actions of one man who risked his life and liberty to help people he didn’t know but for whom he had great compassion. The attached flyer describes more of the details of this event that will be held on Sunday morning, November 8, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 at Congregation Or Shalom located at 205 Old Grassy Hill Road in Orange.
While there is no cost to participants, registration is recommended for planning purposes. The website listed on the attached flyer can be used to register, or you can click here. If you are unable to attend in person, registration will allow you to attend via Zoom.
Many thanks to Rabbi Alvin Wainhaus for offering ILR members this wonderful opportunity to learn about the selfless actions of often little known people to help victims of the Holocaust.
Please join us at Congregation Or Shalom for this event.
